Gold Coast, QLD
The Gold Coast's largest reef system: a rocky reef about 950 by 500 m between Tallebudgera and Currumbin creeks, with around ten named sites from 5 to 25 m, corals, sponges and summer leopard sharks; reached by dive boat from the Gold Coast Seaway (25 to 40 min).
Underwater visibility at Palm Beach Reef shifts with swell, wind and recent rainfall rather than holding to a fixed range. Year-round; leopard sharks in summer, clearer water in winter; avoid after heavy rain generally offers the best conditions for diving here.
Right now: approximately 5 m, 98% confidence (updated 23:36 AEDT).
